Portrait Assignment: Description
For this assignment students enlarged a small photograph (8x 10.5) using a grid and a graphite pencil to the size of 16 x 21. Each portrait was drawn from the same photo of basic drawing instructor Andrew D. Moeller and was to focus on learning the value scale as well as using a grid as a sighting technique and enlargement tool. Each portrait was then hung in the hall as a group show showcasing the several different ways one tool can be used to make a variety of marks and interpretations of the same image.
